My Work

I like to expand into the childlike wonder we experienced growing up, how bright and colorful we saw everything. I like to imagine what it would be like in another world or what little worlds are hidden from us. I do this because life can be rough and I like to create an escape for myself and viewer’s.

I believe art is to be experimental, so I create playful characters and environments that invite the viewer to come along for a journey to another world. My characters exhibit stylistic approaches, including lanky limbs, minimal shading, and textured lines to express movement. I also use a lot of colors, playing with complementary shades of blues and oranges to add a playful feel to my work.

My process of creating characters starts by doing exercises that involve taking regular everyday objects and giving them human characteristics, such as the backs of cars or vending machines. From looking at the world, I create characters. These characters could be hiding in corners invisible to the human eye or creatures that only come out at night. The backgrounds I produce come from the need to escape. I create backgrounds that I could see myself living in filled with serenity. I want to inspire people to view the world as you would a fantasy book.
